The Role


We are now recruiting a
Compliance and Ethics Lead, Italy (Office Based in Rome)**, who will be responsible responsible for leading Compliance & Ethics operations in Italy.


The position will report to the Vice President of European Markets & Japan Compliance and Ethics and will also work closely with the BMS Compliance & Ethics Leadership Team, Italy's Legal team, and with the market's leadership team and key stakeholders.


Key Duties and Responsibilities

  • Promote BMS' Integrity Culture throughout the organization and partner with the leadership team to ensure a steadfast commitment by all employees to compliance and ethics.
  • Maintain the compliance program components of Model 231 and serve as a member of the market's Model 231 Vigilance Committee.

  • Chair the Compliance Committee with the General Manager, liaising effectively with BMS' Global C&E Organization.
  • Drive execution of the market's Compliance Risk Assessment in coordination with the Global C&E Organization Center of Excellence.
  • Partner well with the market Legal team as well as with other risk management functions such as BCF, EMCOE, HCP Transparency and Internal Audit to provide high quality guidance and support to the business.
  • Participate in periodic internal audits, monitoring and due diligence activities in the market and, as appropriate, coordinate execution of followup actions.
  • Periodically conduct compliance investigations requiring local C&E support.
  • Develop & ensure oversight for compliance procedures, education, communications, and monitoring & analytics in close cooperation with the Global C&E Organization.
  • Maintain knowledge of business and markets and compliance trends in the industry to identify and mitigate potential compliance risks.
  • Represent BMS Compliance at local market industry associations compliance and ethics working groups and subcommittees.

Qualifications, Knowledge and Skills Required

Preferred Law Degree
-
7+ years of experience in compliance or legal in a highly regulated industry with at least 5 years of pharmaceutical industry legal and/or compliance experience.

Superior personal integrity and ethics, including an exceptional sense of discretion.

  • Effective communicator with a demonstrated ability to establish and maintain strong relationships with stakeholders.
  • Strong strategicthinking skills with an ability to identify and recommend process improvements and best practices.
  • Ability to prioritize and manage multiple projects under deadline pressure with flexibility to work on a broad range of matters.
  • Ability to discuss controversial topics with senior executive leadership and obtain their buyin and support.
  • Italian language fluency and excellent written and spoken English required.
