About the Role:


Would like to be our Tax Operational Manager and be responsible for ensuring accurate reporting of financial information in accordance with local tax regulation, company standards and policies? This role ensures that systems, documentation, compliance, and reporting are in place and leads continuous improvement projects to provide highly effective and efficient end-to-end processes to the company divisions.

You will support GL Accounting, Reporting, O2C, Fixed Assets, Tax and works closely with key internal customers across the business functions to support provides hands-on support on tax requirements/interpretations to provide quality services to the Divisions to support effective decision making.


Key responsibilities:


Leadership:


  • Collaborates with local entity, NOOC, and 3rd parties to provide a seamless service.
  • Supports continuous improvements and process changes towards efficient and effective processes.
  • Supports the measurement and delivery of service levels and critical metric targets.

Service Delivery:


  • Preparation of monthend direct tax calculation for the reporting in accordance with local laws and Novartis required standards.
  • Perform the preparation of the TP Profitability calculation for all the pillars, for the quarterly analysis and for the National Documents and all details required for the Tax Declaration and TP National Documents.
  • Manage balance sheet account reconciliations process of tax balance sheet accounts and ensure timely resolution and clean of overdue items identified. Ensure proper accounting of tax transactions and accounting specific questions are well addressed and solved, with issues to Technical Accounting.
  • Resolve all raised issues and disputes or coordinate with various departments to resolve.
  • Liaise with Head FRA, Head Tax or tax consultants to ensure appropriate interpretation of new legislation.
  • Collaborates with key partners, including accounting authorities/internal and external auditors, followup on any audit issues and implement correcting measures.
  • Serves as a Subject Matter Expert for related policies and processes, drives productivity and continuous improvement, process changes and leading practices to have an efficient and effective process for the direct tax calculation as well as the TP profitability analysis.
  • Maintain good relationship with the corporate shared service centre/offshore services.
  • Manage training on process and related systems for endusers, and outsourced operations.
  • Work closely with the Supply Chain Management and Funds Flow Manager to ensure all tax and accounting risks are considered when setting up new supply chain funds flows.
  • Proactively identify potential VAT and/or tax risks and take leadership with appropriate departments for timely resolution.
  • Implement and support critical metrics and targets to drive high process performance in the organisation towards best in class, review, and drive improvement in country FRA and shared service centre performance.

Compliance:


  • Ensures all processes, policies and procedures are clearly defined, fully documented.
  • Ensures compliance with Novartis Accounting Manual (NAM), Novartis Financial Controls Manual (NFCM) and regulatory requirements.

Minimum requirements

Essential requirements:


  • University level degree in Business Administration/ Economics/Finance.
  • Many years accounting experience, preferably in Big 4 public accounting, healthcare industry or large corporation with shared service concept.
  • Local tax and regulatory requirements' knowledge.
  • SAP knowledge.
  • Project management skills with focus on driving performance and productivity.
  • Analytical approach and ability to understand situations, interdependencies, and challenges in a comprehensive way.
  • Ability to effectively prioritise and complete tasks in a highpressure environment.
  • Can conform to shifting priorities, demands and timelines through analytical and problemsolving capabilities.
  • Flexible and reacts to changes promptly and efficiently.
  • Proactive, result orientated and with a strong customer centric demeanor.
  • Strong continuous improvement approach.
  • Fluency in English.

Desirable requirements:


  • CPA or Chartered Accountant / MBA.
  • Advanced Degree in Accounting and/or Finance.
  • Experience working with a Shared Service Center.
