General Description of the Role

Key Responsibilities and Activities

  • Support and/or lead new product development projects by developing new formulations and/or new processes.
  • Support and/or lead ingredient qualifications.
  • Partner with marketing and project management teams to generate and execute innovation projects and initiatives.
  • Support and/or lead exploratory research and development to sustain future innovation initiatives.
  • Design and execute scientific/R&D experiments and analyze results.
  • Support marketing in ideation sessions and workshops.
  • Support renovation projects that may explore alternate formulations, ingredients, suppliers and/or processes.
  • Batch and process formulas of semifinished and finished prototypes or products needed for marketing and/or additional testing.
  • Identify areas of improvements and opportunities related to products and processes and support the technical feasibility.
  • Support plants and/or comanufacturers on product and process optimization.
  • Keep up to date with technological innovations and develop new innovations and/or improvements that unlock new opportunities for Campari Group.
  • Request and organize necessary technical documentation from suppliers.
  • Ensure compliance of formulations with all relevant market requirements.
  • Ensure formulations meet budget requirements.
  • Execute accelerated stability testing plans and analyze results to predict shelf life and/or stability of products.
  • Manage across multiple systems documentation control of all necessary ingredients, technical information, process directions, and formulations.
  • Define and populate product specifications within a global centralized system.
  • Build and manage liquid bills of material within a global centralized system.
  • Oversee first production of products to ensure successful industrialization.
  • Train plant personnel (i.e. Processing and Quality) as well as marketing and commercial teams on new products.
  • Provide support to Legal, Operations and Commercial teams on technical inquiries related to products.
  • Support in technical assessments and/or audits of current and potential suppliers and/or comanufacturers, when necessary.

Experience Required

  • 2+ years of product development experience is required

Education / Professional Qualifications

_Skills_

  • Team working (i.e. ability to work with others across all boundaries to reach common objectives).
  • Good project management skills.
  • Strong chemistry and mathematical skills.
  • Good technical capability with a proven track record of project management and delivery.
  • Sensory experience of foods and/or beverages is required.
  • Keen understanding of good manufacturing and laboratory practices, especially within food and beverage industry.
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication and organizational skills.
  • Good negotiating and influencing skills with the ability to align the different interests of internal parties.
  • Strong safety, quality and maintenance background is a plus.
  • Knowledgeable of regulatory compliance (e.g., TTB, HAACP, Food Safety).
  • Good diagnostic skills.
  • Able to work within a lab environment and operate typical laboratory equipment.
  • Ability to develop and make presentations.
  • Good trouble shooting skills and multitasking skills.
  • Data analysis experience.
  • Competent in Microsoft Office Applications.
  • Must have a very good knowledge of English and Italian languages. Competency in French is a plus.
  • Flexible to travel extensively both domestically and international.
