Head of Molecular Biology Laboratory

Job Purpose:


  • Responsible to manage a team in area of responsibilities, in order to progress Global health projects
  • Execute and oversight projects to the conception, design, implementation and interpretation of scientific research projects in support to vaccine development and life cycle management.
  • Participate in scientific collaboration and reporting of data in peer reviewed scientific journal
  • Oversight Third parties / external collaborations, in alignment with Project Plan

Key Responsibilities:


  • Provide effective and inspiring leadership, ensuring support to professional development and qualification of staff, while reinforcing wellbeing within the organization
  • Ensures the team is up to date and use cutting edge technologies and ideas to deliver best preclinical expertise to vaccine projects in discovery, development and life cycle management, according to GVGH priorities
  • Ensure that the objectives of the team are in line with GVGH priorities
  • Represent the team at early/discovery Project Teams and/or Technical Teams to ensure that the laboratory meet the project team's expectations
  • Strong scientific leadership to ensure interface with key scientific external stakeholders or interactions with external partner in the context of outsourcing of activities or collaborative research studies.
  • Enable collaboration with GSK R&D through sharing of knowledge, expertise and best practices
  • Provide expert supports to IP and regulatory in the context of filing of patents, regulatory documents and submission of manuscripts to peer reviewed journals
  • Can Supervise PhD students or postdocs
  • Ensure Health, Safety and the Environment is an integral part of the operations and culture. Minimize the impacts to the community, resources utilized and the effect on the environment

Requirements:


  • Master's degree in Life Sciences or Chemistry;
  • Preferred qualifications: PhD and postdoc experience (5 years)
  • Area of specialization: Virology, Molecular Biology, Biochemistry, Microbiology, Immunology, Chemistry
  • Good knowledge and understanding of GVGH Vaccines strategy and objectives, regulatory requirements, as well as competition and intellectual property aspects. Ability to integrate this knowledge in decisions and recommendations.
  • Very good people management and communication skills, need to appropriately manage the interfaces with Project Teams and GVGH functions
  • Fluent in English
  • Able to efficiently manage uncertainty, priority changes and timeline restriction
