Position Title:
EMEA Commodity Manager


Position Summary:


The Procurement Manager EMEA is responsible for promoting a world-class purchasing team driving efficiencies through standardization, SOP compliance, and communicating best practices.

You will assist our plants through the acquisition process driving the how to buy and where to buy process. S/he will create and report new performance metrics as well as support automation and digitization projects. The Purchasing Manager has responsibility for purchasing materials, goods, and services (including freight services). The Procurement Manager will have active interaction with suppliers on commercial topics and will escalate if needed. Drives activities in order to improve digitalization, requisitioning and procurement processes (new ordering, new sources, new methods, etc.). These responsibilities are for all plants located in Europe including Tolling.

The Purchasing Manager has responsibility for the assigned commodity set / spend to develop and implement souring strategies in order to achieve value added agreements.

S/he will have the responsibility to increase procurement managed spend, productivity as well as automation.

The Purchasing Manager is responsible for identifying suppliers that will fit with Momentive culture, meet Momentive standards of compliance with a focus on Emerging Markets of EMEA region.

This position entails managing procurement activities, vendors, contracts and synergies in the raw materials area, developing and executing sourcing strategies.


Job Description:


  • Accountable for the negotiation and implementation of strategies for the assigned commodity set.
  • Understand market dynamics and be able to translate these into value added agreements with selected suppliers and communicate value to internal Business Leaders.
  • Execution of all procurement activities in accordance with the global procurement processes.
  • Support and drive continuous improvement/standardization in procurement processes for assigned categories.
  • Drive Procurement digitization/automation.
  • Ensure the compliant execution of standards, controls, policies, procedures and performance metrics to manage effectively and efficiently the procurement spend.
  • Collaborating with internal partners to accomplish procurementspecific projects/tasks by forming effective relationships, internally and externally.
  • Focusing on daily operational topics as well as problem solving with internal stakeholder and suppliers.
  • Participate in approving new vendors through sourcing activities to achieve better supply & lower expenses.
  • Responsible for the negotiation and implementation of supply agreements related raw materials (chemicals) EMEA countries.
  • Optimize sourcing strategies within the EMEA region that meet the Business's growth objectives.
  • The Commodity Manager EMEA will interface with Manufacturing, Technology, Business Leadership and Commodity Managers in all regions, leading efforts to identify and implement cost and complexity reduction opportunities. Project responsibilities will be focused on EMEA in the beginning, but geographic coverage can be expanded.
  • Increased complexity and business/operational/strategic importance of the negotiations for the respective indirect agreements.
  • Greater influence in the conception and execution of strategic guidelines.
  • Ensure timely negotiation of all agreements, including execution of commodity contracts, delegation of authority review, completion of executive summary and productivity summaries. Negotiate contracts to meet business requirements and meet the quality and cost objectives.
  • Provide the best value for purchased commodity sets. Support crossfunctional efforts to reduce costs and mitigate supply risk.
  • Support Technology on new product.
  • Optimize cash flow aspects of assigned commodities.
  • Collaborate with other EMEA Procurement departments to develop, and implement best practices relevant to the scope of this role, including business intelligence, risk analysis and due diligence as & when appropriate.

Additional Details:

Minimum Qualifications:

  • BS/BA Degree or equivalent.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in Indirects, project management, procurement, or chemical operations.
  • Full or indepth knowledge of industry practices.
  • Complex negotiation skills in English and demonstrated experience with leveraged agreements, multiyear contracts.
  • Basic understanding of technical equipment with strong analytical skills.
  • Good interpersonal skills able to separate emotional and functional aspects.
  • Motivated teamplayer with positive and high energy.
  • Ability to effectively communicate with all levels of the organization (up, down, laterally).
  • Excellent verbal, written, and presentation skills
  • Fluent in Italian and in English (oral and written).

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 5 years experience in procurement of Indirects. MBA is a plus. PMI Project Management Professional Understanding of Manufacturing Systems, inc
