    Advertised Vacancy Number: IPS/SS855885

This is a permanent full-time position commencing Term 1, 2024.

Como Secondary College (SC) is seeking a Business Support Officer to join their dedicated team.

We are seeking self-motivated applicants who can use their initiative and work independently as well as work collaboratively within a team. We are a busy Independent Public School, therefore good interpersonal skills are desirable along with attention to detail and a willingness to be flexible and adapt to other roles within the school.

The successful applicant will work mainly in the finance section and will ideally possess knowledge of all aspects of the Department of Education's financial procedures and practices.

The successful applicant should be highly motivated, providing integral support to the Manager Corporate Services in a wide range of business operations such as administration, financial and human resource management.

The successful applicant will ideally have a good understanding of the relevant systems and policies required to maintain, monitor, analyse and extract information using RM Finance, RM Asset Manager, RM Billing, Recruitment Advertising Management System (RAMS) and Human Resource Management Information System (HRMIS), School Information System (SIS), SEQTA, Connect, Consent2Go and the suite of MS Office products.

Sound knowledge and experience completing the End of Month, End of Calendar Year and End of Financial Year rollovers and assisting with Workforce Management - recruitment and retention is highly desirable.

You will be involved in the implementation of the merit selection processes of support staff and will provide training to support staff in administrative procedures.

Key to this role is an ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced, secondary school environment with a high level of accuracy and attention to detail, ideally while effectively prioritising and meeting deadlines. You would work closely with the Manager of Corporate Services, independently and as part of the Corporate Services team.

Good interpersonal skills are ideal for the role as it entails assisting a range of college stakeholders. A capacity to interact with empathy and professionalism within a diverse school community and with a range of government and outside agencies is highly desired.

Como SC is driven by the belief that every student is capable of successful learning. The College is an Independent Public School catering for students from Year 7 to Year 12. Applicants assessed as suitable during this selection process may be considered for other similar vacancies that occur throughout our school for up to 12 months following this initial appointment. To be suitable for this role, you will need to demonstrate the following work related requirements (selection criteria):

  • Considerable experience providing input and effective support to the development, management, implementation and monitoring of business operations, systems and plans.
  • Well-developed financial management skills, including data analysis, interpretation and reporting, and the ability to provide recommendations.

  • Sound verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills, including the ability to work effectively as part of a team.
  • Sound conceptual, analytical and problem solving skills and the ability to identify appropriate solutions.
  • Applications will be assessed against these work related (selection criteria) of the position. The business needs of the school may also be considered.
