About the role


As the Solar Project Manager, you will be accountable for delivering solar construction projects from contract signature (financial close) to commercial operations and handover to operations asset manager, working with the project contractors, partners and stakeholders to maintain the highest quality standards to deliver projects safely, on time and on budget.

Based in Rome or Milan / Madrid / London, you will be part of an experienced team across various disciplines (Development, Finance, Engineering, WHSES, Asset Management, M&A).

You will be expected to spend significant time travelling across projects in Europe (Italy, UK, Spain) to visit sites and meet with contractors, advisors, grid operators and other key stakeholders.

You will have a proven track record in delivering the construction and commissioning of complex solar projects and demonstrable technical expertise.


Main Accountabilities

  • As the client's point of contact for the projects in construction, you will ensure that all contractual obligations are met, and the project is delivered according to plan.
  • Working with the EPC contractors, consultants, suppliers and the WHSES team to maintain the highest standards of WHSES and Quality on the project and ensuring the implementation of a robust project organization, procedures and processes.
  • Contract management and liaising closely with EPC contractors, Grid companies (TSOs/DNOs), lenders, suppliers of key equipment, consultants and offtakers. Resolving contractual and technical problems in a timely manner through effective collaboration and close liaison with internal and external parties.
  • Conducting site visits preconstruction to ensure adequate project assessment, including feasibility, work preparation and identifying major challenges and opportunities.
  • Liaising with project stakeholders and providing regular reporting to shareholders, project board of directors, financing parties, energy offtakers and other stakeholders.
  • Ensuring efficient Budget and Risk Management throughout the project, identifying and taking advantage of opportunities as well as implementing adequate mitigation measures as needed.
  • Providing input to the development, procurement and transaction teams to support contract negotiations (EPC, O&M, Owner' Engineer, PPA, relevant local consultants, equipment supply) in the preconstruction phase. As the Project Manager during construction, you will ensure, in collaboration with the extended team, effective scoping, budgeting, risk management, quality, HSE and scheduling in the preconstruction phase, considering the interaction and dependencies between the relevant contracts.
  • To succeed in this role, you will have significant experience in the project and project / construction management of solar, battery storage or other utilityscale renewable energy projects in construction. A strong understanding of the development phase including constraints analysis, grid connection process and permitting process is also desirable. You will have a demonstrable understanding of investor technical / reporting requirements and procedures and bring a successful track record of leading and managing complex projects in the Renewable Energy sector including working alongside partners and other stakeholders to achieve successful outcomes.
  • A degree in Engineering or a relevant technical discipline will be required.
  • Fluent written and spoken English and the corresponding language (Italian, Spanish) will be required, additional language skills are beneficial.
