Mott MacDonald are seeking a senior mechanical engineer with solid and demonstrated experience in mechanical engineering of Thermal Power plants and implementation of Power Plant Projects in international environment to lead and grow the mechanical engineering team based in Genova, the Detail Design Centre of Excellence of the European Energy Unit.

As Team Leader you will be an integral part of the Detail Design Centre of Excellence of the Energy Unit within a large multidisciplinary, multi-skilled team of engineers on thermal power generation projects worldwide.

The clients and projects can be located anywhere in the world, so the role is challenging and interesting.
Our work is varied in its nature covering Feasibility studies, basic engineering, detail engineering.

The role will primarily focus on:

  • organizing and growing the competences and resources of the mechanical engineering team
- coordinating the engineering/design work with other disciplines leaders
- preparing proposals

  • International travel will be a part of the role, including site visits and client meetings.
We are looking for a motivated person with a genuine passion for excellence and client relationships, with the following attributes:


Experience in:


  • Professional experience in the thermal power generation industry, ideally with OEM and/or EPC contractor;
  • Implementing power plant projects with gas turbines in combined cycle and open cycle
  • MSc in Mechanical Engineering (or other relevant);
  • Experience of development, procurement, construction, standard contract forms, project management and team leadership;
  • Proactive, with the ability to work independently and with large teams;
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, and attention to detail;
  • Knowledge of English Language
  • Mechanical detailed design experience of CCGT power plants;
- hands-on experience in commissioning, control processes and operating and maintenance of thermal power;

  • Fluency in Italian, additional language(s) desirable (French, Spanish or Portuguese).
