DescriptionThe heart of a spacecraft lies in its engine, and that's why we, at The Exploration Company, are dedicated to developing our own cutting-edge Propulsion Systems ensuring the highest level of efficiency and reliability in our space endeavours.
As a key member of our engineering team, you will be responsible for coordinating the activity related to all ground falicities necessaty to develop, qualify and operated an High Thrust cryogenic re-usable rocket engines.
You will perform your duties principally at the Company's premises in Torino and may be required to travel from time to time to our company's premises in Bordeaux and Munich in the course of your duties.
As the Operation & Test Benches Design Engineer, your responsibilities will include:
Lead the design and development for cryogenic ground operation facilities and test benches for reusable rocket engine testing, qualification and production operation (pass-off test).Specify and integrate cryogenic fluid handling systems, including pumps, valves, and plumbing, to support rocket engine testing.
Conduct detailed engineering analyses to ensure safety, reliability, and efficiency of cryogenic systems under operational conditions.Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to integrate ground operation facilities and test benches into overall launch site infrastructure.
Consider environmental impact factors in the selection of location for ground operation facilities, minimizing ecological disruption and optimizing resource utilization.
Work closely with propulsion engineers to understand engine requirements and translate them into test bench specifications.Utilize CAD software (e.g., SolidWorks, CATIA) to create detailed designs and engineering drawings for ground support equipment.
Select appropriate materials and components for cryogenic applications, considering performance and compatibility with propellants.
Coordinate with vendors and suppliers to procure equipment and components for ground operation facilities.
Develop and execute test plans, including setup, instrumentation, data acquisition, and safety protocols.
Ensure compliance with technical specifications, industry standards, and regulatory requirements.
Support operations and maintenance of ground support equipment during rocket engine testing campaigns. What we would love to see from you
In the role of Operation & Test Benches Design Engineer ideally, you will have the following:
Master's degree or higher in Aerospace Engineering, or related field; advanced degree (Masters or PhD) preferred.
Proven experience (3+ years) in cryogenic system design and development, with a focus on ground support equipment and test bench for rocket propulsion.
Strong understanding of fluid dynamics, thermodynamics, and materials science related to cryogenic applications.Experience with cryogenic fluid handling systems, including pumps, valves, and instrumentation.
Knowledge of safety protocols and best practices for handling cryogenic fluids and operating test facilities.
Experience using CAD to design parts/assemblies is an assetFluent in English. Italian is an asset
