About the role


The Waste Specialist ensures removal, safe handling, storage, transport, and disposal of hazardous materials, both radioactive (hot waste) and non-radioactive materials (cold waste).

The person is responsible of the storage, data filing (e.g. logbook) and disposal of the retain samples.

Based on workload, the person supports the cleaning of the production area including classified areas and equipment, and the shipping activities.


Your key responsibilities:


  • Responsible to ensure that all waste (hot and cold) is removed from all production working areas (at least twice a day) and processed (e.g. waste compaction) to maintain the entire production area free from waste and in a tidy state;
  • Transfers waste material (radioactive and nonradioactive) to proper storage areas including separate waste collection in the dedicated areas;
  • Issues specific documentation to manage radioactive and nonradioactive waste materials;
  • Coordinates the pickup and destruction of both nonhazardous and hazardous waste with waste companies;
  • Checks all type of wastes getting out from the production department being sure they are compliant with all applicable laws in particular for radioactivity risks;
  • Manages the retain sample storage by verifying material, labels and documents for completeness and accuracy;
  • Ability to operate all applicable radiation detection equipment;
  • Promptly report to the Production Manager, Production Head, Radioprotection Expert and/or the HSE Manager any deviation inherent to the assigned activities;
  • Execute all assigned activities in compliance with internal procedures (HSE, GMP, others) and in compliance with applicable laws and regulations;
  • Complete applicable required job specific training, cGMP, HS&E, Dangerous Goods, ADR rules, Cleaning etc. Participates to related GMP documentation with QA and with selftraining, (e.g internal software)
  • Coordinated, if necessary, by the Supervisor or other production key figure supports the preparation of product shipment (e.g. type A) and the related documentation, supports in maintain safety stocks of gowning and DPI and supports the cleaning of the production area including classified areas and equipment.

Role Requirements

  • Education: High School diploma or equivalent.
  • Basic English (writing and speaking)
  • Min. 2 years manufacturing experience in a Radio-Pharma regulated industry.
  • GMP knowledge
  • Hazardous shipping training.
