    Summary:

    VIAVI Solutions, formerly Comtest Wireless, provides tools specifically for railway and other mission critical operators with technically demanding environments, who depend on private networks to run their mission critical communications.

    Our portfolio is the de-facto, most-used railway telecommunication and signaling test, measurement and monitoring solutions in the rail industry.

    Duties & Responsibilities:

    The successful candidate will be in charge of developing software for a telecom network testing application applied to the railway domain.

    Our application is typically boarded on a purpose-built test train to generate 4G calls and evaluate the quality of service of the client's network. It runs on a VIAVI designed hardware solution. The applications interact with 4G/5G mobile terminals, scanners and other equipment running on VIAVI-designed hardware solutions on purpose-built test trains or portable units. All components collaborate to execute complex scenarios and test the mobile network. The collected data allow the user to gain insights into the network performance and measure / certify the quality of service.

    The main daily tasks include:

  • Prototyping, designing and developing (C++) new features into an evolving product.
  • Integrating new hardware modules or third-party libraries.
  • Conceiving and coding unit and integration tests.
  • Maintaining the source code (C++/C#/JS/React) of the products in use.

    • Pre-Requisites / Skills / Experience Requirements:

  • Minimum 3 years of experience.
  • Degree in Information Technology or Telecommunications.

    • Skills:

  • Computer Programming Languages: C++ , C# , Windows Presentation Foundation (WPF).
  • Web Application Tools: JavaScript, HTML, XML, JSON.
  • Database skills: Relational and Not Relational Database.
  • Knowledge in Windows APIs, Linux, Git.
  • Knowledge of multithread programming and algorithms.
  • Knowledge of frameworks .NET, NET Core.
  • Network protocols (TCP/IP, etc.).
  • Analysis and specifications definition.
  • Architectural competences.
  • Good knowledge of English and fluency in Italian.

    • Nice to have:

  • Previous experiences in telecommunication projects.
  • Experiences in network configuration.
  • Knowledge of the railway sector.
  • Telecom knowledge (4G/5G).
  • Docker containers.
  • Experiences in embedded Linux (Yocto).
