Role Description

In the framework of our projects in France and UK, and in tight contact with the Design teams, we are looking for a Junior Nuclear Safety Analyst, more specifically in the field of Reactor Safety studies.

In a start-up spirit, but at the same time in an already international group, you will be a key element of the Global Engineering Team devoted to the nuclear safety assessment.

You will report directly to the Safety & Licensing for Design (SLD) Head of Unit.

As a Safety Analyst, you will be responsible for the execution of technical studies, the follow-up of externalized activities, the reporting of costs and schedules.

Main Activities

You will support newcleo projects by:

  • Interpreting the regulatory and para-regulatory context, to develop a fully consistent newcleo safety referential,
- analysing the safety risks of the future newcleo installations, considering equipment failures as well as internal and external hazards,
- realizing studies in support of the radiological and environmental impact assessment,
- defining the orientations and safety requirements for such complex installations
- editing the safety documentation for the different licensing phases, and providing and active support to the assessment phases, interacting with Nuclear Safety Authorities.

To perform these tasks, you will work in close contact with the engineering teams in a transversal way, to capture the design process and the characteristics of the technology, with the goal to develop easily implementable requirements for the architecture and the single systems and related components.

You will define the calculations needed in support of the safety demonstration and the hypotheses of the accidental simulations.

In this way, you will be a key player of the iterative design process, whilst integrating the budget and schedule constraints of the project.

Desired Qualifications
- an MSc degree, or an equivalent level of experience in a relevant domain,
- a strong interest in nuclear engineering, in particular in the development of the fourth generation of reactor technologies.
- a level of written and spoken English sufficient to work comfortably in a professional environment.

Are considered well appreciated plus:
- an MSc in Nuclear Engineering or a stage in a stakeholder of the nuclear industry,
- knowledge of simulation codes used for deterministic and probabilistic safety analysis (thermal hydraulics, neutronics, severe accident, PSA, ),
- knowledge of written and spoken French.
