Your tasks:


Are you ready to kick-start your career in research and development within the coatings industry? Sherwin-Williams, a global leader in paints and coatings, is offering a unique opportunity for aspiring chemists to join our team as
R&D Associate Chemist Trainees.

This 18-month comprehensive training program is designed to provide you with exposure to our different labs in Italy (Orbassano, Pianoro, Minerbio) enhancing your skills and knowledge in a dynamic and supportive environment.


Your main responsibilities include:

  • Participate in an 18month training program, rotating every 6 months through each of our labs in Italy to gain valuable handson experience.
  • Contribute to: problemsolving, product development, reformulation, quality enhancement, and maintenance through wellplanned experiments and accurate results analysis.
  • Maintain meticulous records of analysis, ensuring traceability and accessibility of data.
  • Acquire and develop technical, industry, and company knowledge throughout the training program.
  • Learn essential problemsolving and decisionmaking skills under the guidance of experienced professionals.
  • Effectively manage workloads, from planning and execution to result analysis and documentation.
  • Work closely with suppliers and customers under supervision, contributing to team efforts.

What we are looking for:

  • Bachelor's Degree or higher in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering or similar.
  • Previous Experiences in the coatings industry, for example through internships
  • Demonstrates knowledge of instrument capabilities and limitations.
  • Basic mathematics skills, including proficiency in conversions.
  • Proficiency in statistical analysis required for method development.
  • Familiarity with software programs such as Color eye, Electronic Bench Record (EBR), Excel, Lotus Notes, PowerPoint, Product Vision, QAD, Word, and the Internet.
  • Problemsolving abilities and technical creativity.
  • Fluent Italian & English language skills
