Organizational Setting
The Regional Office for Africa (RAF) leads FAO's response to regional priorities, focusing on food security, agriculture, and rural development. The post for Natural Resources Officer (Climate Change) is located in the Regional Office for Africa in Accra, Ghana.
Reporting Lines
The Natural Resources Officer (Climate Change) reports to the RAF Senior Forestry Officer.
Technical Focus
Climate change, natural resource management, and environment.
Key Results
Responsibilities include research, technical analysis, and project-related services to support the delivery of programme projects, products, and services.
Key Functions
• Researches and analyzes technical, social, economic, environmental, institutional, and technology-related information, data, and statistics.
• Produces technical information, data, statistics, and reports.
• Provides technical support/analysis to various assessments and studies.
• Collaborates in developing improved tools, systems, and processes.
• Participates in multi-disciplinary teams and collaborates with other departments and agencies.
• Supports capacity development activities within Member Nations.
• Promotes knowledge sharing and best practices at international meetings.
Specific Functions
• Provides technical expertise in climate change, biodiversity, and natural resources management.
• Facilitates the formulation and implementation of regional/subregion projects and programmes.
• Supports regional programmes focusing on climate change and natural resources management.
• Collaborates closely with relevant FAO units to coordinate activities related to climate change.
Candidates will be assessed against the following:
Minimum Requirements
• Advanced university degree in natural resources or related field.
• Five years of relevant experience in climate change and natural resources management.
• Working knowledge of English and another FAO Official language.

• Work experience in multiple locations is desirable.

• Ability to analyze policy and governance structures related to climate and natural resource management.

GENERAL INFORMATION
• Extension of fixed-term appointments is based on performance and fund availability.
